Last-minute detours: The beauty of road trips

There’s nothing like the freedom of a solo road trip. On a whim, you can take a detour and end up on a whole new adventure. That’s exactly what I did while driving from Arizona to California wine country, via Route 66, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite, and San Francisco.

I know from experience that driving across the border into Mexico has its pros and cons. Usually, it’s all good for me, but on a recent trip, I experienced something new.
